AEF Preparatory Schools (Lower Campus K-7)

K-7 Lower Campus Preparatory Program | Broward County, FL

The goal of our K-7th grade program is to provide our students with the academic, cognitive skills, social skills, and self confidence to succeed at the next level. As importantly, we do not overwhelm them with homework and standardized testing while they are mastering these necessary skills and instead focus on their enjoyment of school and their desire to learn.

AEF Preparatory Schools (Lower Campus K-7)

AEF Schools offers a Primary Learning Center (PLC) for grades Kindergarten through Second. The PLC offers students an enriched learning environment where the teaching staff strive to reach each student’s needs. The PLC offers individualized learning goals and differentiated instruction all within a warm and nurturing environment.

Thanks to continual donations, the PLC incorporates the latest in both static and active furniture, tablets, computers, and curriculum.  PLC students experience an open and collaborative classroom environment with increased freedom to navigate their setting while building core academic, cognitive, social, and self regulatory skills including:

PLC students are placed in ability groups where they work on their own individual academic program. As each student progresses within their ability group they are encouraged to move onto the next skill level. The PLC offers an intense reading, writing, and math skill program. We also offer social skills, art, dance, physical education, science, and social studies. The PLC offers a loving, caring, and family environment for your child.

PLC students are provided three 25 minute minute breaks throughout the day.  These breaks allow the students a chance to snack/eat, run around, get fresh air, and reset before the next academic session.  Students of this age CANNOT be expected to sit in a classroom for 7 hours with a a single break for lunch/recess.  Instead they need to be taught to focus and function for specific periods of time, take a break, and prepare for the next instructional period.

Intermediate Elementary (3rd and 4th Grade):

AEF Schools offers an Intermediate Elementary School Program, which includes 3rd and 4th. The program continues to build on the foundational skills mastered in our PLC with a stronger academic focus.

3rd and 4th grade classrooms are more traditional in their physical layout.  The core elementary curriculum continues with increased instruction targeting working independently and working within a time frame.  Our program focuses on Language Arts and Math skills but also incorporates COGMOTICS (AEF’s proprietary lessons targeting cognitive, life, and social skills), Art, Information Technology, Physical Education, Dance, Science and Social Studies. This is to ensure that students are fully prepared for middle school.

We believe each individual has their own unique learning style and therefore offer whole group, small group, and individualized instruction to accommodate the various needs of each scholar. In collaboration with the family, we help provide a solid foundation which stimulates a lifelong passion for growth and learning. Together, we embrace, educate, and empower our scholars to become upstanding members/citizens of the community.

AEF Lower Campus (Grades 5th to 7th) | Broward County, FL

AEF’s middle school continues to build the academic, cognitive and social skills needed to succeed during Middle School years.  These formative years are critical in development of self-esteem, confidence, and problem solving skills.  The COGMOTICS program becomes part of core curriculum and includes all the instructional targets of the Elementary COGMOTICS program with additional focus on :

  1. Peer Relationships
  2. Peer Pressure
  3. Study and Test Taking Skills
  4. Organizational Skills
  5. Conflict Resolution Skills
  6. Time Management Skills
  7. Puberty and Sex Education
  8. Drug and Alcohol Awareness

AEF’s middle school provides and promotes a unique environment fostering individual growth. Our program encourages the development of the whole student by focusing on social skills, cognitive skills, and academics. The staff work to instill knowledge and values which help our students both inside and outside the classroom environment. A major component of the functionality of our school is to prepare our students for what lies ahead by teaching them valuable skills they will utilize in all facets of life. Your child will get the individualized attention he or she needs to succeed and excel.

Unlike larger public schools, the classrooms at AEF are smaller and prevent your child from getting lost in the daily hustle and bustle.

Our standards are aligned with the standards of the State of Florida, ensuring that required academic areas are covered. However, one major difference is that we do not “teach to the test”. Although our students do not have to participate in state assessments such as the FCAT, we do administer a nationally standardized assessment. This test is not used as criteria for promotion, but rather as an evaluation tool to strengthen our curriculum. This gives our teachers the time and opportunity to make sure that concepts are understood and retained in a meaningful manner.

We understand our students have a life outside of school and we cannot expect them to leave their problems behind once the school day begins. We have created a safe place for them to talk about any troubles they may have, without letting the stress have a negative impact on their school day or school work. We also provide time after school to complete missing assignments or get any extra help they may need.

Our staff are dedicated to making sure that every child is given an equal opportunity to get the education all children deserve, and thus provide them with the greatest chance of success.
